Hindustan Zinc is planning to set up a zinc smelting and alloys plant in Doswada in Surat district of Gujarat. The project involves setting up of 300 tpa of zinc smelter with zero discharge and modern technology. The Gujarat government will allot 415 acres of land in Doswada GIDC for the project. The project cost is estimated at ₹ 10,000 crore and is likely to go operational by 2022. The new facility – the first for Hindustan Zinc in the state of Gujarat – will be set up with zero discharge technology and will be among the lowest cost smelters in the world.
