Maruti Suzuki is planning to set up a new manufacturing facility with a production capacity of 1.0 million units in Gujarat. The project cost is estimated at ₹ 350,000 million. It also plans to expand its current plant production capacity in Hansalpur from 7,50,000 units to 1.0 million units per year. The project cost is estimated at ₹ 32,000 million.
Both MSIL and the Gujarat government are working jointly to identify an appropriate plot of land for the new project. The new plant is likely to go operational by 2028.
